Only 11 weeks left to go! Baby girl and I are doing really good. We had a check up on Monday to ensure everything was fine after the spell we had two weeks ago. The ultrasounds and lab work all came back negative for infections and kidney stones. So, they never did figure out for sure what was causing all of the pain. I have been feeling great for the last week and a half so whatever it was has passed.
Its been awhile since I have posted a baby bump picture so I'll post two today.
And here is a picture of an adorable outfit we found while in the Twin Cities for our Anniversary. (Daniel has a bit of a squirrel obsession for those of you that don't know.)
In other news...
We finished our PS-MAPP class and final home study this week. Now we will just wait for our official foster care license. We should see that sometime in January, but since our little girl will be making an appearance right around then we will not take any placements until next summer when she is about 6 months old. The plan as of right now is to provide respite care from the time we start taking placements until our daughter is about 12 months. Respite care is essentially baby sitting for foster children. If their foster parents want a date night or have a need for childcare they have to leave the foster children with a licensed foster care provider. Typically respite care is for an overnight or two and then the child(ren) will return to their foster parents.
We FINALLY purchased blinds for the baby's room. If you remember correctly, that is how the whole remodel including insulation, windows, wiring, and drywall got started in that room. It has been just over 10 months since we decided we wanted to get new blinds in there and they are now installed!
Yesterday night and today I worked on getting some freezer meals put together so we don't have to worry about cooking too much after the baby is born. I have a pretty good stash started.
Today Daniel is working on rewiring the garage. He just doesn't know how to sit still, it's okay by me most of the time. He gets a lot of projects done around here.
Adoption is one way many families resolve their infertility journey. There are many different routes adoptive parents take to find a placement. A very helpful resource for those in Iowa who have or plan to adopt is IFAPA (Iowa Foster and Adoptive Parents Association.) They have information and resources for all types of adoptive parents, not just parents who have adopted through the foster care system. Below is a little information on their history and a link to their website.
For 40 years, the Iowa Foster and Adoptive Parents Association (IFAPA) has been a voice for Iowa's foster and adoptive children through the support it provides to the parents of these children. In 1973, a group of foster parents joined together to create a membership organization for foster and adoptive families. IFAPA was originally operated by these volunteer foster and adoptive parents, but because of the successful growth of the organization, staff were hired to continue with IFAPA's mission.
